The patch is available now and is compatible with both the standard and GOTY editions of Fallout 3 on Steam and GOG. Additionally, it also completely removes Gaming For Windows Live which plagued the Steam version of the post-apocalyptic RPG for more than a decade.

The Fallout Anniversary Patcher downgrades the game from 1.7.0.4 to 1.7.0.3 and allows the Fallout Script Extender to be once again compatible with the title so players can install mods freely. This allows players to purchase well-made mods licensed by Bethesda and experienced modders are given the opportunity to become official Creators for the company. While most can be found on sites like Nexus Mods, Bethesda has also introduced official mod support with the Creation Club.
Thousands of mods for each title can be found online and range from fixing various issues or adding new features to bringing limitless new adventures for players to experience.
